A Replacement Prius Battery ~ Is It Necessary?

If you’ve landed on this page, the you are probably looking for a replacement Prius battery. For that – I am sorry. However, what you may not know can end up costing you THOUSANDS of dollars! Take a few minutes and read over this website – you will thank me later!

First let’s understand why it is that you are may need to replace your battery. A Prius battery is really no different than any other battery that may have. A battery’s life has an expected life span, right? Whether you have AA batteries in a remote control or a D batteries in a flashlight, at some point these batteries are going to have to be changed. A Prius battery is no different. It has a certain life expectancy just as with any other battery. The difference though is that you can just run to the store and buy new batteries for your flashlight. It is not that easy with a replacement Prius battery. You have to usually go through Toyota to order the battery, wait for it to arrive and then have it professionally installed. Yeah like I said, it is no where near as easy as replacing those remote batteries!

OK so before I go on my rant, let’s take a quick look at some of the symptoms that the car will show if your battery is starting to poop out….

  • Loss of acceleration – Does your car feel like there is very little power when accelerating? This is a very common sign that your battery is headed for the tank. Remember, gasoline only *supplements* the power in the Prius. The battery is what gives it the power.
  • Poor Fuel Economy – You had purchased the Prius vehicle in order to SAVE of fuel, not to spend more on it! If your car is starting to lose its edge on fuel economy, it’s time to start looking into a replacement Prius battery. Because of the lack of electricity going to the car, the Prius starts to use more gasoline. Hence the decrease in fuel efficiency.
  • Battery Won’t Hold a Charge – This is the easiest way to determine if a replacement Prius battery is needed. As with any other battery, you can only charge it so many different times before it will no longer hold its charge. The problem for Prius owners is that it isn’t as easy as just jumping the car. You will need to get a replacement Prius battery.

So if you have been experiencing some of these problems, then there is a good chance that you either have already called Toyota or you will shortly. If you haven’t called them yet, let me tell you what they’re going to say. If you have already talked to Toyota, then you already know this! Toyota will tell you to bring the car in as soon as you can (of course there is a charge for this). Then they will hook it up to the diagnostic device and pretend like they DON’T KNOW what is wrong with you car. From there, they will tell you that the cells in your battery are bad and you will need to replace the battery.

Not a problem, right? WRONG! Wait until they tell you just how much that battery is going to cost you. Remember that this is not a traditional car battery. The Prius battery essentially runs the car. It does a lot more work than you normal car battery. Don’t be surprised when they tell you that a new battery is going to run you over $3,000!! And no, I am not joking!

That’s a pretty bleak conversation to have with a service guy, isn’t it? After all, you car isn’t that old! How in the world is a replacement Prius battery going to cost you that much??!! Well take a deep breath and read on because I am about to show you how you can save thousands of dollars on your battery replacement…

One “little” thing that most people do not realize is that you can actually REBUILD your Prius battery instead of replacing it. How you ask? Well take a minute (actually 3 minutes!) and watch the video below -

You may be asking yourself, “How is this possible? Why wouldn’t Toyota tell me this? How can I do this?” Well it’s pretty simple really. Toyota will NEVER tell you this because that means that they won’t make nearly as much money on repairing the battery versus replacing it! It is like cornering the market. If they tell you that you have to replace your battery, what are you going to do? REPLACE IT! Unless you don’t have the money to replace then you’ll probably just end up scrapping the darn thing. The bottom line is this – the video above gave you some insight of just how easy and simple it could be to save THOUSANDS of dollars and keep your car!

So now you have a choice to make – you can either pay Toyota the crazy money they’re asking for a replacement Prius battery or you can click on the link below to learn how you can rebuild your battery. The choice is yours!
